Roger Scott Davidson, Sr.
Since "retiring''
from the City of Dallas as Chief Plumbing Mechanical Inspector in February of 1995 Roger
Davidson has kept very active as a code consultant. He continues to conduct seminars on
the plumbing, mechanical, and building codes throughout the Western United States and some
far- away places such as Alaska and Guam. His
next round of seminars is scheduled in Puerto Rico.
Most of the time in the consulting business is
devoted to testifying or consulting as an expert witness in legal cases. Court cases on
the plumbing code have been worked involving slab leaks, contested bills, and scalding
from hot water. Many cases were on the access platforms required by the mechanical codes.
Cases have been handled on electrocutions. Slip and fall cases involving building code
violations on guardrails, stairways, and other exit components have also been handled.
In December of last year Roger Davidson was
featured on the front page of The Dallas Morning News holding in illuminated exit sign
located in the attic of a recently remodeled Dallas school. A few months later he did a
review on Dallas Police Headquarters Building. Last month Roger appeared on Fox 4 News for
a special concerning the outdated Building and Fire Codes used by the City of Dallas. The
2000 Edition of both codes were adopted later that day.
When not working as a code consultant Roger enjoys
restoring antique farm tractors and light industrial equipment. Roger is also active in
the Highland Christian Church Chancel Choir and Highlands Handbell Choir. The Highland
Handbell Choir has played at several theaters in Branson, Missouri and many places within
Texas.
